The great sport continues here at Avington, the lakes are at their most beautiful over the winter months and that definitely reflects in the fishing. Lower water temperatures and high flows have seen most anglers “bagging up” with a number of notable fish gracing the banks. For those of you who reach their limit early the catch and release (lake 3) is providing some excellent sport, stocked with rainbows, tigers and browns, with the odd surprise.
The larger fish, particularly the Brownies have been favouring the deeper spots so an intermediate line and heavy fly can make all the difference. Most sizeable flies fished with a lot of movement are working well, particularly brighter colours, this has technique has proved successful for some.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish all our valued customers old and new a very happy Christmas. Don’t forget fishing vouchers make great presents they can be purchased in our shop or over the phone. Please be aware that the last date of postage before Christmas is Friday December the 20th.
PLEASE NOTE we are closed for Christmas from Christmas Day and re-open on 28th December. We are also closed on New Years Day.
